An Introduction to Fundraising Bricks Wording Basics

Most bricks used in  fundraising bricks campaigns are either 4x8 inches or 8x8 inches and have a depth of o.5" (for pavers and tiles) or 2.25" (for bricks). It is also possible to use larger bricks of 12x12 inches.

The number of letters or wordings that can be engraved on the bricks or tiles will vary with the company that is contracted to supply the bricks. However, here is a rough guide of what to expect:

• For 4 x 8 inches bricks: A maximum of 4 lines consisting of 21 characters (3 lines with 18 characters is recommended)

• For 8x8 inches: A maximum of 8 lines consisting of 21 characters (6 lines with 18 characters is recommended)

• For 12x12 inches: A maximum of 12 lines consisting of 21 characters (10 lines with 23 characters is recommended) Please visit this webpage for more info.

While the maximum or recommended lines and characters above provide plenty of room for the wordings and special messages chosen by the donor, it is always effective to use fewer words because being wordy makes it harder to read the texts at a glance.
